Bernardaud Marc Chagall The Hadassah Windows (1962) Breakfast Cup and Saucer JOSEPH TRIBE Set of Two 116821420

Marc Chagall started the project of painting stained glass windows at Abbell Synagogue at Hadassah Medical Center in 1959. It took Marc Chagall and his assistant, Chalres Marq, two years to complete the project. At the time of dedication, Marc Chagall wrote:

"This is my modest gift to the Jewish people who have always dreamt of biblical love, friendship and  of peace among all peoples. This is my gift to that people which lived here thousands of years ago among the other Semitic people." Marc Chagall, February 6, 1962

The paintings are inspiration from bible, particularly Jacob's blessings on his twelve sons and Moses' blessings on the twelve tribes of Israel.

Bernardaud has once again undertaken the project of placing excerpts of these paintings on its world famous porcelain body and create a truely beautiful set of dinnerware. These paintings are available on dinner plates, salad plates, cups and saucer, mugs and serving pieces each depicting a particular painting from a specific tribe.

These plates from Bernardaud are not just for display of masterpiece art of Marc Chagall. They are fully functional and can be used for serving dinner and desserts and salads.

There are a total of twelve images, one for each tribe. Six images are on six dinner plates and the other six are on salad plates. Other items including serving pieces have image representation from one of the twelve tribes.
